“Our Lady of Mercy School is an American Catholic English speaking school whose main purpose is to educate the whole student
towards global understanding.”

We are here to serve the English speaking Catholic population of Rio de Janeiro along with others who may be interested in our mission.

OLM maintains a close relationship among its students, staff and families to foster spiritual orientation for our students as they prepare themselves for their futures.

“Ongoing excellence in education” is our motto and we have been meeting this goal for over fifty-five years.

With a student body of 500 students from twenty-eight different nations, from the Pre-Nursery through the Twelfth Grade of high school, we have an exciting international atmosphere.

Our curriculum is college-prep oriented and mixes both the American culture with the Brazilian culture. We offer two diplomas upon graduation; one which is recognized by the local Secretary of Education for the State of Rio de Janeiro and the other by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools of the United States of America. We have over 95% success rate of our students attending higher education either abroad or in Brazil itself.

We are firm believers in inclusion and the rights of every child to a quality education.
